There are moments in our lives where a single story can change everything. For me, that story was the life of Maryam, the mother of ‘Isa (peace be upon them).

Many people are surprised to learn that Maryam is one of the most honored figures in Islam. In fact, she is the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran, with an entire chapter dedicated to her. As I explored the Islamic perspective of her life, her unwavering devotion, her miraculous strength, and her status as one of the four greatest women to ever live, everything began to make sense. It was her story that ultimately led me to embrace Islam.

I wrote 'Maryam: Mother of Isa' to share this clear, beautiful, and authentic perspective with our children. In a world of conflicting narratives, it is vital that our youth understand her true station:

  • The Devoted Servant: Chosen by Allah and raised in the sanctuary under the care of Zakariyya.
  • The Miraculous Mother: Navigating the trials of her miraculous pregnancy with immense tawakkul (trust in Allah).
  • The Role Model for All Times: One of the four women who reached perfection in faith, standing as a pillar of modesty and strength.

It is a story of miracles, but also a story of a woman’s profound resilience and her direct relationship with her Creator.
