Drop the Spatula, Grab Your Hijab
Your Soul is Calling

| Standing at the edge of a gravelly beach looking out at the water. |
We’ve all been there. You’re standing in the kitchen, staring at a pile of laundry that seems to be reproducing when you aren't looking. You think, “I should really go for a walk,” but then the "Domestic Committee" in your head starts its meeting:
"The chicken isn't defrosted."
"The neighbor might think I'm idling."
"The cat looks hungry (again)."
"I’m just... too tired to be refreshed."
Sound familiar? We prioritize the house, the chores, the family, and even the goldfish over our own well-being. But here’s the truth: It’s not a lack of knowledge stopping us; it’s the noise. ---
The Divine Invitation
Allah (SWT) doesn't just tell us to pray and fast; He constantly invites us to look up. He has turned the entire world into a giant "Open House" for those who want to find Him.
"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding." — Surah Ali 'Imran [3:190]
Think about that. The sky you’re ignoring while checking emails and the earth you’re avoiding to scrub a floor are literally Signs. When we stay cooped up, we aren't just missing out on "steps" for our fitness tracker—we are missing out on a conversation with the Creator.
Muzzling the "Negative Voice"
That voice telling you that you don't have the energy? It’s lying. Energy isn't a battery that just drains; it’s a fire that needs oxygen to burn. Staying inside staring at the same four walls makes your world feel small and your problems feel huge. But when you step outside, the scale shifts. You realize the world is vast, Allah is in control, and that laundry pile? It can wait twenty minutes. It’s not going anywhere (trust me, I’ve checked).
How to Reclaim Your Walk
The 5-Minute Rule: Tell yourself you’ll only go to the end of the street. Once the hijab is on and the door is locked, the hardest part is over.
Nature is Your Recharge Station: Fresh air isn't just "nice"—it's fuel for your soul.
Dhikr in Motion: Turn your walk into a private meeting with Allah. SubhanAllah for the trees, Alhamdulillah for the breeze.
The house will still be there when you get back. The cat will still be dramatic. But you? You’ll be different.
Stop the excuses. Pin that hijab, lace up those shoes, and go find the signs Allah left waiting for you.
What is the one "must-do" chore that usually talks you out of taking a break for yourself?
